Welcome, McDonald's Texas Invitational Players and Families!
28 Oct 2026
The McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament (MTI) returns for its 22nd year on November 19, 2026, with high school basketball games scheduled across Pasadena ISD and Deer Park ISD schools. The tournament brings together boys and girls teams from across Texas and will feature a new three-point challenge on November 21 with a $500 cash prize.
“This is such an important tournament for the players because they get to face off against each other and compete at an elite level,” says Jo Anne Estrada, Manager at Visit Pasadena. “Each year, we hit new records for crowds cheering on the teams and seeing bright futures for the students.”
This event is made possible by nearly 400 volunteers from schools, businesses, and the community who are excited about the MTI Tournament and believe in youth sports. MTI also gives back to the community, with the tournament donating more than $4 million in support of teachers and students.

There Are Plenty of Activities for Kids and Teens
Tournaments like MTI are incredibly important for the players, but can be long and boring for their younger siblings. Pasadena offers plenty of activities for families looking to entertain little ones during the tournament. Check out our attractions page, which includes full-day excursions like Space Center Houston or shorter escapes like nearby parks and playgrounds.
“Pasadena is easy to get around, so you can take younger kids to the park for a few hours, stop for some ice cream, and be back in time to see your older child play,” says Estrada. “We understand that tournaments are family affairs, and want to make sure everyone – no matter how young – can have a good time in Pasadena.”
There are also indoor entertainment options, such as bowling or the Lone Star Flight Museum, in case of rainy weather.
