Get Outside in Pasadena

This is the best place to get outside in Pasadena! You can hike along miles of trails at your own pace, and enjoy various lookouts and viewing platforms to observe local wildlife. You can rent kayaks to get out on the water, and attend one of the dozens of events held throughout the year.

A few event highlights include firefly hikes in the evening, photography and meditation workshops, family painting days, and even bayou blacksmithing.

Pasadena is so close to the coast that you can’t miss the beach! Stroll along the shoreline or cast a fishing line if you feel lucky. This beach is perfect, whether you want to play, or enjoy a few moments of peace.

Non-resident fees are $10 for adults and $5 for children, residents get in for free. 

Stop at the beach around midday and enjoy a picnic at one of the tables around the park. Visit a local Pasadena grocery store beforehand to buy snacks, produce, and pre-made goods.

Climb aboard the M/V Sam Houston, which has operated since 1958. Enjoy a port tour that showcases the region, and educates visitors on how important Houston is to the American supply chain. This is a free tour that lasts 90 minutes.

The M/V Sam Houston holds 100 passengers, and offers both air-conditioned indoor seating and outdoor viewing options. Reservations are required ahead of time.

The parks department has a detailed chart that showcases which parks have walking trails, playgrounds, exercise areas, and picnic tables. You can even see which lakes have recently-stocked fish if you want to catch a trout.

No vacation is complete without a round of golf! End your day with a tee time that lets you explore the 160-acre course at a par 72.

Rental clubs are available, and the rates are affordable. If you schedule a tee-time after 3 P.M., you only need to pay $17 to walk the course on weekends. Share cart costs start at $34.
